Exploring Augmented Reality for Maternal Health Support

Healthcare providers from rural districts of Zimbabwe recently participated in demonstrations exploring how augmented reality smart glasses could support training, mentorship, and emergency preparedness in maternal healthcare settings.

Participants donned the smart glasses to simulate live mentorship scenarios, including postpartum hemorrhage drills and decision-support guidance. Early feedback was encouraging: providers appreciated hands-free access to step-by-step protocols and the ability to be coached remotely by specialists.
